Robert Doisneau (1912-1994) is one of the best-known French photographers of the post-war era. What is less known about him are his activities during the German occupation of Paris in WWII when he worked as photographer, printer and falsifier of identity documents for the French Resistance. As a key photographic witness of the occupation of Paris, he also created with his Rolleiflex some of the iconic images of Paris under the German Occupation. The current exhibition commemorates these clandestine activities and also those of his colleagues in the secret Resistance networks. This is a unique opportunity to discover the full scope of the work of one the greatest French “humanist” photographers of the mid 20th century, known for his modesty, humor and staunch patriotism.
