Louis Majorelle and the École de Nancy

Outside Paris the greatest center for the production of Art Nouveau in France was in the capital of French Lorraine, the city of Nancy.

The furniture designer Louis Majorelle, owner of a a prestigious factory, brought together in Nancy an exceptional team of glass, ceramic and furniture designers whose names are now celebrated in the history of the decorative and applied arts: Émile Gallé, Victor Prouvé, Jacques Grüber, the Daum brothers, Alexandre Bigot as well the architects Henri Sauvage and Lucien Weissenburger. They will be the subject of our free conclusion to the lecture on French Art Nouveau held on Wednesday and Thursday 21 & 22 April.
