A Celebration of Irish & Greek Ceramics

Opening on Friday, July 5, in the presence of the artists, from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm

Since 2017 the Irish Wings festival, under the direction of Kathryn Baird, has brought important Irish contemporary musicians, poets, writers and artists to Paxos in events and exhibitions attended every year by an enthusiastic international audience and by the Irish Ambassador to Greece.

This year’s Irish Wings again brings together an incredible group of musicians from Ireland and Greece.

The leading Irish fiddle player Dónal O’Connor joins folk singer of the year on Irish radio Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, the soulful Greek vocalist Chrysoula Kechagioglou and the dynamic kanun player Effie Zaitidou to present new music inspired by Irish and Greek instrumental and song traditions.

There is also a unique opportunity to hear the legendary Irish singer, composer and keyboard player Kyron Bourke perform with the acclaimed Greek clarinetist and saxophonist Alexis Pogrevnois, renowned percussionist Gino Arrigoni and Paxos’s own Elias Dendias to explore a variety of Greek and Irish musical idioms including jazz, rock, blues and folk.

A stunning cross-cultural collaboration connecting and reimagining the various musical languages of Ireland and Greece.
